You knocked. You asked. Now find out what's on the other side of the door.
All Tricks, No Treats is an introductory rope class for people who want to explore rope as a tool for pain, pressure, and connection - without getting lost in complicated structures.
In this class we will focus on fast, efficient ties that can be applied quickly and adjusted easily, making them ideal for short scenes, playful encounters, and moments where energy and attention matter more than elaborate harnesses. We will explore how rope can be used to create pain through placement, tension, leverage, stillness, and movement, and how small choices can dramatically change sensation.
We will begin with essential rope safety and consent framing - the part where we agree on what's actually haunting whom - then move into demonstrations and guided practice of simple techniques that build pressure and enhance discomfort while remaining approachable and repeatable. Along the way we will explore how to transition from "tying" into "playing," using pauses, breath, and attention to turn rope into a scene rather than a task.
The final portion of class is dedicated to open play and practice, offering participants space to integrate what they've learned, experiment, and ask questions with instructor support as needed.
This class is beginner-friendly and welcoming to curious newcomers, with plenty of room for early intermediate folks to refine efficiency and intention. No experience required - just a willing body and a bad idea.
Prerequisites:
All participants:
Basic understanding of consent, negotiation, and the general risks involved in rope bondage
What to Bring
Bring 2–6 hanks of rope. Rope will also be available to borrow or purchase - please let the instructors know in advance if you need rope.
Costumes are welcome and encouraged! A few notes from the management: wear something you can actually tie in, keep face coverings removable, and skip anything with hardware or embellishments you'd mourn or that could cause injury. Fake blood, glitter, and shedding fur are yours to clean up.
Schedule
6:30 p.m. | Doors open (come in costume, or come as the thing you are underneath it)
7:00–9:00 p.m. | Instruction
9:00–9:30 p.m. | Open tying and play

Three tiers. All three get you the exact same spot - pick the one that fits your situation right now.

CuriousJenna (she/her) is a queer, polyamorous, bottom-leaning rope switch. She has been bottoming since 2016 and tying since 2019. On both sides of the slash, she loves rope on the floor, in the air, nice, mean, and in-between. As an instructor, she loves exploring how and why things work. She strives to balance perfectionism with pragmatism, encouraging students to develop a deep understanding that supports creative decision-making, risk mitigation, and the ability to iterate and troubleshoot their own ties.

Jesse is a queer, polyamorous, neurospicy human and a switchy rope nerd based in Chicago. They’ve been tying since October 2021 and started bottoming regularly about two years ago. Their current rope hyperfocus is the stemless gote, which they’ve been studying and experimenting with across different bodies, contexts, and styles.
As a rigger they enjoy rope that’s sadistic, connective, goofy, and suffery - sometimes all at once. They’re especially interested in how people bridge technical structures, emotional intensity, embodiment, and creativity.
Outside of rope, Jesse spends their time building and bridging communities, caring for their geriatric animals, rock climbing, and more recently, lifting heavy things for fun.
