Learn how to attach bamboo to the body in this beginner/intermediate friendly class. Adding bamboo to the body in your floor and partial ties can introduce structure, rigidity, and intensity to ties that may otherwise lack those feelings. We will work through how to attach bamboo to the body, how to experiment at home with attaching bamboo to the body, and lastly complete a gyaku ebi shape incorporating bamboo that can be done completely on the floor, or with the option of partial suspension.
Students will learn the basics for attaching bamboo to the body. Upon finishing this class students should be able to attach bamboo to the ankles, thighs, and waist, and complete one basic floor based (gyaku ebi) shape. They will be introduced to ways they can experiment with body positioning for more intensive and interesting shapes in the future.
Body bamboo will be provided for use in the studio.
